Two Days Before Spring

Fuji X-E1, 25mm 7artisans manual focus lens, 1/4 second, F 4.0, ISO 200. Overcast White Balance Preset.

It certainly doesn't feel like Spring is around the corner. Quite the contrary, March weather has been cold and wet by 21st century standards. One doesn't venture out unless it's absolutely necessary, and for me, Thursday mornings are when I bring the garbage out. This used to be the evening ritual on Garbage Eve until salvagers would rummage through our bins for recyclables, or racoons started looking for edibles. Either way, a mess would ensue. Doing the deed in the morning has eliminated that.

When I saw the truck, lit as it was for the worker's safety, I rushed home to retrieve a camera. The aperture was set to F 4.0 and the ISO at 200 and the camera would determine the exposure time. On the first shot, I knew there would be trouble when I heard the quarter-second "click...click" warning me of potential camera shake. I proceeded to hunker down and do my best imitation of a tripod. In a few moments I upped the ISO to 800, but this shot, second in the sequence, was the most pleasing.

Shooting this early the morning always results in a surprise, since the early morning light is noticeable colder than bright sunlight. The reflections on the car windows plus the blue hue of the street combined to make this first photo for the day.
