7artisans 12mm F 2.8 Lens

It's showering today, and during a lull, I drove back to Blackie's Pasture in Marin County. Today's lens of choice was a 12mm F 2.8 from 7artisans, one which has given me good results in the past. One problem did occur - its wide angle of acceptance and excessive depth of field made it difficult to focus. Still, the image is reasonably sharp, but the uneven texture of the bronze statue made it a little hard to tell.

The pasture is surrounded by a rail fence of rough-hewn planks. The aging grain and prominent knots made for an odd sort juxtaposition of textures. To my eye, it has a dinosaur vibe.

A Visit To Tiburon: This small bay-side town in Marin County is probably one of the most expensive, and exclusive, cities to live in. The shoreline is the habitat for a variety of sea birds and marine invertebrates, and the well-maintained shoreline paths have markers identifying the local flora an fauna.

Scare Goose: I believe this plastic wolf is meant to scare away the Canada geese that gave up winter migration to stay in the gentle climates of the bay area. Geese are everywhere, and this plastic predictor helps to keep the soccer field free of goose poop.

Playground Dedication: There are several play structures along the shoreside trail that starts at Blackie's Pasture. A number of tiles were set in the concrete retaining wall, some whimsical, while some in remembrance to children who never had the chance to use the swings or climb on the play structures.

Jogging Trail: When I was younger, I used to jog from Blackie's Pasture to "Downtown Tiburon", which was a four-mile round trip. Now I must be content to just walk where I used to run, remembering the feeling of the afternoon breeze on my skin, and the view of San Francisco in the distance.

Fall is just around the corner, and you can feel it on a brisk Thursday morning. The city's skyline can be seen in the distance from my vantage point on Kite Hill. This was a basic hip-shot made after guessing the distance. In spite of the lack of sharpness and the lens vignetting I continue to ignore, I really like this image of a typical San Francisco moment.

It appears that efforts to erase this street art were unsuccessful.

I went to great lengths to prepare a polarizing filter with a variety of adapters to enhance this sort of photo. As usual, it was left behind.

I'm sure these numbers will eventually return to their proper location when the renovations are completed.

I discovered that by adjusting the diopter setting, I could actually focus the camera without my glasses with the help of Focus Peaking. I found this to be quite a revelations, since the day before I was having trouble shooting with fogged glasses in a humid, freshly watered garden in Burlingame. Not only is the image in focus, but it quite sharp for an inexpensive manually focused lens.

Pergear 10mm F 8.0 Fisheye Lens

A Cole Valley bar was having a caribou painted on its wall. I noticed that what appears to be a pre-cut Teflon stencil had been taped to the wall. Perhaps I will drop by later to see how to project is coming along.

Pergear 10mm F 8.0 Fisheye Lens

If you center a fisheye lens on the convergence to two perpendicular lines, you will have eliminated any indications of the curved nature of the lens. Look at the edges of the frame and the distortion is obvious.

A nice tribute to Ukraine, and a pleasing compliment of colors.

Peargear 10mm F 8.0 Fisheye

Bent Street Sign

This is the first morning outing for the Peargear Fisheye Lens. I actually struggled to find something that either would both call attention to, and from, the characteristic spherical distortion of the lens. At first, I treated it like a typical wide angle lens, but soon realized I was actually "seeing" my compositions as photos taken with a standard lens and then gifted with a curvey, unpredictable border.

Refuse.

If I used the fisheye lens as I would a conventional wide angle, the images looked just that - conventional. The underexposed edges of the photo minimize the curvature seen in the planter box at the left edge of the frame.

Archway

After a while, I started to look for images with circular themes that could be subtly enhanced near the central portion of the frame, and I would just let the edges go "wiggly".

Timely Warning

I've never seen a peanut warning before. I wonder if it is real.

Childsplay

Round themes, repeated.

Maniscus.

These small lenses are clear with floating wisps of color.

I may not carry this lens again because I cannot pre-visualize how the final image might appear. Using it became less about anticipating and more about imagining possible images. It has proven itself to be quite sharp, but each time I "chimped" an image, I felt more surprise than validation when I compared what I saw on the LCD with what was in my mind's eye/ camera.
