About Me

A self-described serious amateur, Tom Jung has shot digital cameras exclusively since 2005. Prior to that, he used film and has had images published in various newspapers, along with some catalog illustrations and photos for a  Physics textbook in the early 1970's. He is a contributing photographer for the San Mateo Daily Journal.

The purpose of this blog was two-fold. First, it fulfilled his fantasy of being a writer. Second, it served as a way to present lessons for the Nikon Flash Photography class he taught before he retired. He never claimed to have never made a mistake in the field, and many of his sample photos are the "rough drafts"  of his efforts, each complete with commentary on what  he did, or didn't, do wrong. His making public the shortcomings of his photos serves as a spur to improvement for him, and as a cautionary tale for you.
