Since I was in the area, I took an extended walk past the Palace of Fine Arts and through the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA), walking on the same paths I once ran many years ago. My routed extended from the edge of the yacht harbor to the base of the Golden Gate Bridge, a healthy five-mile run. Today, instead of a stopwatch, I carried a camera. and took every opportunity to enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells unique to the area. The shoreline was filled with the lonely cries of the seagulls, accompanied by the low bellow of our fog horns. It seems that Karl The Fog was being a little coy, showing just a hint of the Golden Gate Bridge.
I noticed that the the architectural details of the buildings reflects the artistic sensibilities of the Roaring Twenties. This entryway to an apartment building seems to whisper its Moorish influence, hinting at the indulgent lifestyle enjoyed by its original residents. To my mind, at least.
I'm sure there's a logical explanation for why this plaster statue decided to catch some rays in the back of a pickup truck. I think that it's more fun to make up my own back story, and be assured it's not the least bit naughty. And yes, I am amazing.
